Ceiling Fan Repair (Wobbling, Noisy, Not Spinning)
Most ceiling fan problems are not the fan itself. They are the controller, the capacitor or the wiring, and we fix the common ones on the spot.
- Wobbling or shakingUsually loose blade screws, a bent blade or an unbalanced motor. We tighten, balance and re-test.
- Clicking or grinding noiseA worn bearing or motor issue. Often just the bearing; we tell you honestly if a new fan is the better buy.
- Not spinning, but the light worksAlmost always a failed capacitor. We fit a new one rated for your fan.

Replacement of an existing fan
We unmount the old unit, check the existing wiring and mounting, swap in the new fan, balance the blades and test.
False ceiling installation
A fan is much heavier than a light, so it needs proper bracing. We coordinate with your false-ceiling contractor to get it specified before the ceiling is closed.
Concrete ceiling installation
The correct anchor for the concrete grade, and a check that the existing wiring has an adequate current rating.
Typical install time: 1–2 hours for a like-for-like replacement; 3–5 hours for a new fan point with new cabling.

Mounting matters
False Ceiling vs Concrete Ceiling Installation
Singapore homes have both, and the installation approach is very different.
Concrete ceiling
Standard mount with proper anchors. We use a laser level so the fan sits flat, because an off-level fan is the most common cause of wobble.
False ceiling
The fan cannot be mounted directly to the false ceiling; it must be braced back to the concrete slab above. If the ceiling is already closed, we work with your ID or contractor to retrofit a mounting block.
ImportantA ceiling fan weighs 5–10 kg; a standard downlight weighs under 0.5 kg. Never mount a fan to a plaster false ceiling without proper bracing. Renovating? Ask your ID to specify a fan mounting point before the false ceiling is closed.

Do not risk a handyman shortcut: a ceiling fan weighs 5–10 kg, and the mounting and wiring must be done right. Most repairs are done on the spot, with same-day or next-day slots.

Almost every flat has a fan point
- BTO flats delivered with no fan point in the living room: we run a new spur from the lighting circuit.
- Resale flats with original PY cable or old PVC wiring without an earth: we add a proper earth when we install a new fan.
- Living room fans fitted by a previous owner with no isolator: we add a dedicated MCB so the fan can be isolated for maintenance.
Approvals, ceilings and height
- MCST approval is sometimes needed for fans in common-property areas such as a balcony or utility room. We can advise and help prepare the submission.
- For false ceilings, we coordinate with your ID for the right mounting point.
- For high ceilings (3.5 m and above), a down-rod extension puts the fan at the optimal 2.5–2.8 m from the floor.

How long does it take to install a ceiling fan in HDB?
A like-for-like replacement takes 1–2 hours. A new fan point, where the flat has no existing wiring for the fan location, takes 3–5 hours including the new cable run from the DB box.
Can I supply my own fan?
Yes, most of our customers do. Send us a photo or the model number before the appointment so we can confirm the mounting type and bring the right down-rod and bracket. We can also recommend a fan for your ceiling height and room size.
Do you install ceiling fans on false ceilings?
Yes. The fan must be braced back to the concrete slab above. If your false ceiling is already closed, we may need to open a small section to fit the bracing. If you are renovating, ask your ID to specify a fan mounting point before the ceiling is closed.
My ceiling fan is wobbling. Can you fix it without replacing it?
In most cases, yes. Wobble is usually loose blade screws, a bent blade or an unbalanced motor. We tighten, balance and re-test. If the motor itself is failing, we tell you honestly whether repair is worth it.
Can you install a ceiling fan where there is currently only a light?
Yes. In most HDB flats, the room's light point can be converted to a fan-and-light combination with minimal disruption. We check the existing cable rating, add a proper isolator at the DB and install the fan with a light kit.
