Electrical Repair Singapore | Troubleshooting & Fault Repair

When something electrical goes wrong at home or in your business, you want one number to call and one electrician to trust. TRUST ELECTRICIANS provides complete electrical repair services in Singapore for residential, commercial, and industrial properties — covering every common fault, from a single dead socket to a full HDB power trip or a commercial DB failure.

Because electrical faults are different from a full rewiring project, we treat repairs as a fast, focused, diagnostic-led service. Our electricians arrive with the right test instruments, isolate the actual fault, fix it, and leave your installation safer than we found it.

What We Repair (and When to Call Us)

Electrical repair is a broad category. Most Singapore homes and businesses only ever need help with one of the following:

If you are not sure which one applies, send us a photo of the affected switch, socket, or DB box on WhatsApp and we will tell you within minutes whether it is safe to wait for the next available slot, or whether it is a true emergency.

Our Electrical Repair Services in Singapore

Below is a breakdown of the most common repair jobs we handle across Singapore. Each has its own dedicated page with full details, but here is the at-a-glance version.

Power Trip & Tripping Breakers

When your MCB or RCCB keeps tripping, the four usual suspects are overload, short circuit, earth leakage, or a faulty appliance. Our job is to find which one — not just reset the breaker and leave. Common HDB symptoms we resolve: kitchen circuit trip, bathroom trip, air-conditioning circuit trip, and water-heater trips that re-occur after reset.

Tell us: which room/area lost power, whether it tripped once or keeps tripping, and whether you smell burning or see sparking.

Power Failure & Blackouts

A full power failure is different from a single-circuit trip. If the entire home is dark and your neighbours still have power, the fault is inside your installation — most often an HDB electrical loading trip on the main switch, or a failed main breaker. We diagnose, isolate, and fix the same day in most cases.

Tell us: whether neighbours have power, the size of your HDB flat (3/4/5-room), and roughly when it started.

Power Point & Socket Repair

Singapore’s Type G 13A sockets work hard — kettle, hair dryer, phone charger, air-fryer, vacuum — and eventually fail. We replace cracked, loose, sparking, or burnt power points, swap to USB or pop-up variants, and add entirely new power points where you need them (e.g. new TV wall, new study desk, new aircon spur). All work uses EMA-approved, BS-1363-compliant 13A sockets rated for Singapore’s 230V supply.

Light Switch Repair & Replacement

From a single-gang switch that no longer clicks, to a 2-way switching circuit for a long corridor, to a smart dimmer retrofit, we handle every flavour of light switch repair. Common jobs: replace a cracked switch plate, swap a 1-gang for a 2-gang, add an intermediate switch for staircases, fit a dimmer for a dining-room cove, or convert to a smart Wi-Fi switch.

Wiring Repair (Including Concealed Wiring)

A damaged, overheating, or shorting cable is the most serious kind of electrical fault. In Singapore’s HDB flats and older condos, many of these cables run inside the wall (concealed wiring), which makes the repair more involved than a simple socket swap. We locate the fault, open the minimum amount of wall, replace the affected cable run, test, and make good. Where the damage is widespread (e.g. whole flat of 1990s PY cable), we may recommend partial or full rewiring instead.

Our Diagnostic Process

A good electrical repair starts with a real diagnosis — not a guess and a part swap. Here is what we do on a typical repair visit:

  1. Phone or WhatsApp triage (free). Send a photo of the affected switch, socket, or DB box. We will tell you within minutes whether it is safe to wait, whether you should switch off the affected circuit, and whether it is a true emergency.
  2. On-site arrival + visual inspection. We start with the obvious — burnt marks, melted insulation, water stains, loose connections — before reaching for any tester.
  3. Isolation testing. For power trips and partial failures, we systematically isolate each circuit to find the actual fault.
  4. Instrument testing. Insulation resistance tester, earth loop impedance tester, multifunction installation tester, clamp meter — used to confirm the diagnosis, not to guess.
  5. Targeted repair. We replace or repair only the failed component. If a single socket is the problem, we do not try to sell you a DB upgrade.
  6. Re-test under load before we leave, and again 24–48 hours later for any borderline cases.
  7. Written report + CoC for jobs that require a Licensed Electrical Worker sign-off. Any fixed-wiring modification in Singapore legally requires a LEW endorsement and a Certificate of Compliance for the affected work.

Typical on-site time: 1–2 hours for most repair jobs. Typical call-out response: 30–90 minutes during working hours, 60–120 minutes after hours.

When an Electrical Repair Is Actually an Emergency

Most repairs can wait for the next available slot during working hours. A few cannot. Call our 24/7 Emergency Electrician Singapore line immediately if you have any of the following:

  • Burning smell from a socket, switch, or DB box — even if the power is still on
  • Visible sparking from any outlet or switch
  • Smoke from an electrical fitting, ceiling, or wall
  • Wet electrical fittings — flooding, ceiling leak into downlights, water heater leak onto the isolator
  • Repeated power trips that will not stay reset
  • A tingle / mild shock when touching an appliance, tap, or metal fitting
  • A buzzing or crackling sound from inside a wall, ceiling, or DB box

These are the cases where waiting until tomorrow genuinely risks an electrical fire. We pick up the phone 24/7.

Why Singapore Trusts Us for Electrical Repairs

  • Licensed & LEW-endorsed — every meaningful job is signed off by a Licensed Electrical Worker registered with the EMA.
  • Diagnosis-first pricing — we will not start a part-swap until we know what is actually broken.
  • Fixed, written quotes — the price we quote is the price you pay for the agreed scope. No “we’ll see when we open it up” surprises.
  • EMA-compliant parts only — Schneider, ABB, Hager, Legrand, Clipsal, or equivalent, all properly rated for Singapore’s 230V / 50 Hz supply.
  • LEW-signed Certificate of Compliance (CoC) issued for any work that requires it under the Electricity Act.
  • Tidy, polite, on-time — drop sheets, shoe covers, and a clean site are the default. We treat your home the way we would treat our own.
  • No “we’ll come back tomorrow” jobs — we aim to finish the repair in a single visit. If a part is not in the van, we will tell you upfront and arrange a same-week or next-day return.

FAQs

We do both. About 60% of our day-to-day work is small to medium repair jobs (one MCB, one socket, one switch, one trip diagnosis). The other 40% is full or partial rewiring, DB upgrades, and new installations. You do not need a “big job” to call us.

For most repair calls in HDB towns across Singapore we can be on site within 60–90 minutes during working hours, and within 2 hours for after-hours calls. For genuine emergencies (burning smell, sparking, smoke) we prioritise same-hour response — see our 24/7 Emergency Electrician Singapore page.

Not necessarily. Singapore regulations require a Licensed Electrical Worker only for fixed-wiring work (DB box changes, cable runs, RCCB replacements, new circuits). For simple like-for-like replacements of a socket or switch, a qualified electrician under LEW supervision is the legal standard, and that is what we provide. We will tell you upfront if your specific job requires a LEW endorsement.

Yes — for any work that legally requires one under the Electricity Act (Cap. 89A). You will receive a written CoC and a copy of the LEW endorsement for your records. This is important for HDB resale handovers, insurance claims, and any future renovation.

No. Our pricing is in line with — and in many cases lower than — the larger Singapore electrical companies, and we publish our full price list so you can compare. The difference is that with us, the quote you receive is the quote you pay, and the work is signed off by an EMA-licensed electrician every time.

We provide a workmanship warranty on every repair. If the same fault returns within 14 days, we come back free of charge and fix it properly. If a part we supplied fails within its manufacturer warranty, we replace it at no labour cost.

For many jobs, yes. Send a clear photo of the affected switch, socket, or DB box, plus a one-line description of the symptom. We will tell you over WhatsApp whether it is a quick fix (we bring the part) or something that needs a full on-site diagnosis. For emergencies, please call instead.
