Home EV Charger Installation
For landed houses the install is straightforward. For condos, there is an approval step first. A typical landed install takes 3–6 hours and includes:
- Site survey and load calculation. We confirm your supply and DB can take the extra 7 kW load, and check the route from the DB to the carport or garage.
- Dedicated circuit from the DB. A new MCB (typically 32A or 40A) and a 30mA RCBO, rated for continuous load. EV chargers draw for hours, which is far more thermally demanding than a kettle.
- Cable run. 6 mm² or 10 mm² cable depending on distance and load, in surface trunking, conduit or underground ducting. Routing varies the most from house to house.
- Wallbox mounting and termination. Mounted at the agreed spot, terminated, charger current set and tested.
- LEW sign-off and CoC for the dedicated circuit, issued in the same visit.

Here is the typical approval flow, step by step. We help you prepare every document.
Check your eligibility
HDB: EV provisions in HDB car parks are expanding, and most new BTOs are delivered EV-ready. If your car park is not ready yet, you may need to wait for the rollout or apply for an individual case.
Condo: almost all condos now allow private chargers, subject to MCST approval of the model, contractor and cable routing.
Submit your application
For condos: the MCST submission with charger specs, installer credentials and the cable routing plan.
For HDB: the HDB EV charger application through the relevant HDB channel.
Install the charger
Once approved, we install in a single visit: typically 3–6 hours for landed or condo, longer for an HDB car park with longer cable runs and car park operator coordination.
LEW sign-off + CoC
We issue the LEW endorsement and CoC for the dedicated circuit, and you submit it back to HDB or your MCST for their records.

Electrical Requirements (Dedicated Circuit, RCBO)
A few things every EV charger install in Singapore must have. We confirm the exact requirements for your charger during the site survey.
- Dedicated circuit from the DBThe charger must be on its own MCB, never shared with sockets or appliances. Continuous load makes sharing a real fire risk.
- 30mA RCBO, Type A or Type BType A (AC + pulsating DC) at minimum; Type B if the charger outputs smooth DC. We confirm which your charger needs.
- Correct cable sizing6 mm² for short runs, 10 mm² for longer runs or higher amperage, sized to the actual run and charger rating.
- Proper earthingEarthed back to the DB. For older installations without a good earth, we add one.
- LEW endorsement + CoCMandatory: the dedicated EV circuit is fixed-wiring work.

Wallbox vs Mobile Charger
Two different ways to charge at home, with two different install scopes.
Wallbox (wall-mounted)
Permanent and weatherproof (IP-rated for outdoor mounting if needed), tethered or untethered. The standard for landed and condo installs, and it adds value to the property.
Mobile charger (13A socket)
For renters, short stays or car parks where a wallbox is not yet feasible. Charges at roughly 2.3–3.6 kW: slow but functional. The socket should be a dedicated, properly rated circuit, not a shared corridor socket.

EV Charger Installation Cost
The charger itself is the biggest cost driver. Installation work is similar across most landed houses, and scales up for condo and HDB car parks because of longer cable runs and approval coordination.
After the site survey you get a fixed written quote, before any work begins: the charger (if we supply it), cable, conduit or trunking, DB-side work (MCB, RCBO), labour and CoC, each listed separately. Current rates are on our Electrical Services Price List Singapore.
- Landed, single-phase, short run (< 15 m)The simplest install. The charger, such as a 7 kW Wallbox Pulsar Plus, is priced separately.
- Landed, longer run or ductingHigher: depends on cable length, routing and whether trenching is needed.

Do I need a permit to install an EV charger in HDB?
You need HDB approval, which we help you prepare. For HDB car parks that are already EV-ready, approval is straightforward. If your car park is not EV-ready yet, you may need to wait for the rollout to reach your block or apply for an individual case.
How long does an EV charger installation take?
A typical landed-house install is 3–6 hours. A condo install with a longer cable run is 4–8 hours. An HDB car park install is typically 6–10 hours because of the longer run and coordination with the car park operator.
Can I install an EV charger myself?
No. EV charger installation in Singapore is fixed-wiring electrical work that must be done by or under the supervision of a LEW. EV chargers draw continuous load for hours, so any mistake in cable sizing, RCBO selection or termination is a real fire risk.
Will my home DB handle an EV charger?
It depends on your supply and the rest of your load. For a typical HDB 60A supply, a 32A EV circuit is usually fine if you manage the rest of your load. For a small condo supply that is already maxed out, you may need a main upgrade. We confirm during the site survey.
How much does EV charger installation cost in Singapore?
